3 August 2012 (Tu B’Av)

From my 365 Day Hebrew Art Project in 2011
2011年の365 Day Hebrew Art Project(365日ヘブライ語アートプロジェクト)より

Today is Tu B’Av, the Jewish holiday of love. In the morning my boss’s husband stopped by work and was telling me a bit about the holiday.

“I got her flowers!” he claimed, pointing to my boss next to him. “Because it was also her birthday yesterday,” he added. And his birthday is tomorrow!

Like a knee jerk response, I found myself wanting to joke that he is very lucky for all of those days to be clustered one after another, so he’ll never forget the important one (the wife’s birthday, wink wink). But it was too early in the morning for me to cluster together my limited Hebrew vocabulary to deliver the joke without missing a beat. Oh well! So I drew a big heart in the air around them with my fingers instead. At least that made them laugh.

Happy Tu B’Av for those of you celebrating, and a happy weekend to you all.

今日はユダヤ教の愛の日、「Tu B’Av」。(ユダヤ教のバレンタインデーのようなもの)

Tu B’Avを祝う人は素敵な日を、そして皆様、素敵な週末をお過ごしください!

Much love,
