12 (Seeing the beauty)

June 15, 2010

When I visited Israel for the first time last September, I couldn’t help compare Israel’s nature to Japan’s. The landscape I saw back then mostly made a rather bland, dry impression and made me yearn for the moist, lush scenery in Japan. It made me crave the beauty of Japan’s four seasons. I concluded that Israel did not inspire me too much visually. It didn’t impress the artist in me.

Strangely this time around in Israel, I am being inspired by the smallest of details daily, even the most mundane objects. Perhaps it’s just a matter of looking from a slightly different angle, an altered viewpoint. I am noticing beauty everywhere. And it’s really nice.

Much love,
