Tree Shadows 1, Canon EOS Kiss Digital X

These shadows caught my eye today.

I also had my first driving lesson in Israel today. The last time I drove was roughly 8 years ago, when I got my license in Tokyo. Needless to say I’m pretty rusty.

My driving instructor is a veteran of his profession, teaching for over 20 years now. He started in Tel Aviv where he used to live until 2 years ago. When I asked him if he’s ever taught any other Japanese he said no, but many Chinese and Vietnamese. When the Americans pulled out of Vietnam, he explained, Israel accepted many refugees from there. Because the Jewish people weren’t accepted anywhere for a long time, Israel is open to receiving refugees, he said.

I love how even the smallest of conversations offer insight to a different culture.

Much Love,
